Thanks to more than 10 years of experience, Sipar has developed a solid and recognized expertise in the field of library management and reading activity facilitation in Cambodia for both in-school and out-of-school libraries. Our team organizes training sessions, but is also interested in responding to requests to organize training “à la carte” according to your specific situation.

We also give advices to our partners / clients about book's choices, publishers and libraries sustainability.  


Methodology : all training sessions use interactive methodology by alternating theory and practice – trainers are responsive to the specific needs of each participant. Pre- and post-training tests enable each participant’s performance to be assessed.


Trainers:
the trainers are experienced Sipar reading program managers, librarians and reading facilitators with more than 10 years of experience.


Training fees:
training fees are calculated according to the content, number of days and participants.

Basic Training in Library Management – Level 1 – Code T1

Target : New librarians in charge of libraries in Khmer, for children or the wider public

Number of participants: Minimum 8 – Maximum 20

Duration : 5 days (35 hours)

Content : Participants will develop skills in Dewey Classification – Specific classification of Khmer fiction books – Library organization (shelving, signage, internal rules, reader orientation…) – Manual management of book inventories and lending systems.

Basic Training in Library Management – Level 2 – Code T2

Target : Librarians who have passed level 1. Libraries for a wide public (with books in Khmer, and also in English and French)

Number of participants: 4 Minimum – 14 Maximum

Duration : 3 days (18 hours)

Content : Participants will develop skills in book inventory management and lending systems using PMB software (trilingual – Khmer, English and French). The training is individual or in groups of two.

Facilitation of Reading activities – Level 1 – Storytelling and story reading Code T3

Target : Preschool and primary school teachers and librarians, educators, children’s facilitators

Number of participants: Minimum 5 – Maximum 15

Duration : 2 days (12 hours)

Content : Participants will develop skills in storytelling and story reading and will get to practice with children on field.

Facilitation of Reading activities – Level 2 - Storytelling and story reading Code T4

Target : Preschool and primary school teachers and librarians, educators, children’s facilitators

Number of participants: Minimum 5 – Maximum 15

Duration : 3 days (18 hours)

Content : Participants will develop skills related to story reading using Kamishibai and puppets and produce puppets. They will get to practice with children on field.

Facilitation of Reading activities – Level 3 – Creative and educational activities around books – Code T5

Target : Preschool and primary school teachers and librarians, educators, children’s facilitators

Number of participants: Minimum 5 – Maximum 15

Duration : 3 days (18 hours)

Content : Participants will develop skills to create inclusive educational games and activities related to Khmer, Math and Science. They will get to practice with children on field.

Reading with toddlers and preschool children (0 to 5 years) – Code T6

Target : Preschool teachers and parents’ facilitators

Number of participants: Minimum 10 – maximum 20

Duration : 2 days (12 hours)

Content : Participants will discover the importance of books and reading for children’s development and the importance of the relationship between children, books and adults. They will develop skills in children’s books selection and usage and how to bring children and books together. They will practice in villages and community preschools with young children.

Awareness session on reading and books – Code T7

Target : Preschool teachers and parents’ facilitators

Duration : 1 day (6 hours)

Content : Importance of reading – Simple inventory of fiction and non-fiction books – How to promote books in schools and in the community.

Facilitation of reading session by Mobile library

Content : One or two Sipar librarians facilitate reading activities for your target group (preschool and primary school children, and out-of-school children…)

Storytelling and story reading using different techniques, awareness on how to use books correctly, support for reading, creative activities, educational and social games.

Duration : 1 day (session of 1 to 2 hours)
